Community Benefits
Findon Village Store is a community shop – run by the community for the community. But what does this look like in practice?
Firstly it brings people together: volunteers work as a team with a joint sense of purpose
customers are welcomed with a smile and a friendly greeting, and often a chat
it’s a focal point at the middle of the village
and a collection point for lost keys, lost glasses and other assorted lost items
Secondly, profits are used to support community projects, facilities and amenities. In the past, we have supported groups such as Findon Village Swimming Pool, Findon Village Hall, St John the Baptist CE Primary School, Findon Village Woodland Preschool, and the Christmas Lights in The Square.
Our criteria are:
- Location – Findon Village
- Number of Beneficiaries – groups rather than individuals
- Range of Beneficiaries – ie not the same group year on year
- Diversity – ideally, within a financial year, groups would represent a diverse range of residents eg Age, Sex, Race, Additional Needs
- Benefit to Findon Village community – groups that enhance the wellbeing of a number of residents
If you think that your group, project or amenity fulfils the criteria and would benefit from a distribution you will need to complete a form. This is available from the Secretary of the Management Committee. email: findoncommunityshop@gmail.com
